Get the most out of your summer holiday with six weeks of sport and fitness themed fun and activities at Life.

Week 1: Get Fit for Summer

21st July – 25th July

From gentle throwing and catching for the very young, to fast paced action for the fit, Life offers a great range of fun Frisbee games all week to sharpen your reflexes and get your heart racing.

In association with Catch the Spirit.

Plus! Workshops and activities all week will explore the psychological aspects behind sports success.
Do you have the will to win?
Can you nurture the killer instinct or is it simply in-built?
What do you need to fuel your body for successful sport?

Workshops provided by Teesside University.

Week 2: Fit, Fun and China

28th July – 1st August

Anticipating the Olympics launch in Beijing, ‘Fit, Fun and China’ explores the distinctive exercise regimes of China, where physical fitness is highly regarded. Martial Arts, Tai Chi and Table Tennis will all be available to try.

Look out for our healthy Chinese cooking demonstrations (2pm on 28th and 30th July), and our Table Tennis Tournament (10am – 4pm on 1st August).

In association with Burns School of Black Belts and the Newcastle Chinese Community Centre.

Week 3: Food and Fitness

4th August – 8th August

We are what we eat and a good diet is essential to our overall health and fitness. Food and Fitness week offers healthy cookery demonstrations to appeal to all ages and appetites.

Check out the ‘Build a Healthy Burger’ and healthy eating demonstrations.

Week 4: Dance Week

11th August – 15th August

Movers and shakers of all ages can limber up to join in a range of family dance-based activities and watch a variety of unusual performances.

In association with Bare Toed Dance, Let’s Circus and Hang Aerial Dance.

Week 5: What a Racquet

18th August – 22nd August

It’s a soft touch this week at Life – try-outs of badminton and it’s ‘fluff-ball’ variation, “throwminton” are on offer all week.

Week 6: Carnival Week

24th August – 29th August

Find out how to juggle, plate spin and do tricks with floating scarves.

Plus! All Round Fitness: Find out what it takes to be the next Tiger Woods by trying golf on Times Square (and then test your Olympic triathlon speed on treadmills, indoor bikes and other activities – available on 28th only).
