Darwin's theory of evolution by natural selection is the most important idea in biology, yet many people dismiss it as "only a theory". This workshop uses LIFE's expertise in leading ethical discussion to explore the way that science works and help students understand that a theory is more than just an idea. The workshop encourages young people to spot the similarities and differences between creation myths from many cultures, explore Darwin's theory in the context of other ideas about evolution , understand that a theory should be falsifiable and backed up by experimental evidence and finally the weigh up the evidence for and against Dr. Darwin's Big idea. Suitable for good KS3 and above.
