Open ended investigation at its best. Students are shown a mass of wriggling worms and invited to suggest the kind of questions they would like to answer about them. The class discuss which questions could be answered (ethically!) by experiment. Groups choose their favourite question then carry out their own investigation to provide the answer using the wide variety of lab equipment provided.
