How can we get into space? Use sensors to measure the muzzle velocity of a spring cannon and discover the relationship between speed and distance travelled. The graph obtained is then extrapolated to estimate escape velocity. Students have fun experiencing the gravitational pull of different planets and then create their own chemical rockets and launch them for a workshop that ends with a bang. Suitable for Year 8 and above.
