Life's Young Explorers' Zone is a fully interactive discovery play environment featuring a child sized café, shop, garden and tree house. Funded by SITA Trust, this area is designed to introduce the concepts of reducing, reusing and recycling through fun, self-directed role play activities.

As part of this increased provision for our younger visitors we've developed a new programme of educational activities for 3-5 year olds.

Our Playful Science sessions for Reception and Nursery classes combine educational workshop activities with free time in the Young Explorers Zone. We are currently offering three themed sessions - Up in the Sky, Under the Sea and Changing Colours.

Each 2-hour session includes hands-on workshop activities, time in the Young Explorers' Zone, a craft activity and a story. Up in the Sky also includes a session in the Life planetarium.

Age suitability: Reception and Nursery classes (3-5 year olds)
Price: £5 per pupil; 1 teacher for every 5 pupils goes free

Please note that to maximise the learning in our Playful Science workshops, we prefer to teach students in their normal classes.
Since Reception and Nursery classes often require more adults to accompany them, we may have to limit the number of children in each group to less than our usual maximum of 36 to accommodate everyone safely and comfortably in our teaching spaces.
