ScienceFest launched today with a mass hula hoopla at Monument. Hundreds of shoppers and those on their lunch break joined us to show off their hula hooping skills - a great time was had by all!

LIFE EARNS LEARNING OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM QUALITY BADGE The Life Science Centre in Newcastle has become one of only six city venues to win national recognition for the quality of its educational visits. Awarded by the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom, the Quality Badge combines learning and safety into one easily recognisable badge for all organisations providing learning outside the classroom experiences.

The Centre for Life in Newcastle welcomed the Science and Innovation Minister, Lord Drayson, to its science centre and educational workshops today (4 March 2010).

Last year, DIUS, (now the Department for Business Innovation and Skills), launched a consultation on science and society in the UK to canvas views on how the UK should develop our skills base, improve science communications and build public confidence in science. Five independent expert groups were established to take forward the key areas which emerged from the consultation.

Slime! It’s sticky, squashy and sloppy and children love it, making it the perfect theme for half term fun at Life Science Centre.

Newcastle's Life Science Centre holds another special Pre School Day on Tuesday 19th January.... Introduced in 2008 these specially devised days are designed to engage, absorb and inspire curious toddlers and are ideal for a mixed age young family with children 4yrs and under. The centre itself is roomy with even double buggy movement between the permanent and temporary exhibits holding no problems or restrictions. There's even a buggy parking section.

The Life Science Centre buzzes with excitement at this time of year . . . the busy ice skating rink is expected to attract over 80,000 visitors during its 13 week stint . . . but it's not the only chilly experience to enjoy . . . the ice theme continues inside . . . with 'Animals on Ice', an educational and engaging experience cleverly disguised as a fun interactive 'show' with questions and participation actively encouraged.
