Science Explainers are present throughout the centre to help amuse and educate the little visitors and the theme for this particular event is 'Animals' with mini beast handling workshops i.e. opportunities to meet (with their handlers...!) a Tarantula, a giant millipede, stick insects and Hissing Cockroaches!
An Animals on Ice presentation within the Life Theatre explains how far a little bird, the Arctic Tern travels every year from the North to the South Pole and the animals it is likely to share the ice with e.g. the Walrus, Polar Bears and Penguins.
Piccolo music workshops, with easy to follow and learn-able animal songs, are increasingly popular so places are allocated on a first come first served basis. Visitors are asked to sign up to this workshop at reception on arrival.
Around the Centre temporary interactive displays with 'Feel, Look and See' easy science based activities mixed with the time spent in the soft play area and the breeze blown bubble disco will make the day fully active and engaging for the most boisterous of tots.
The Ice skating rink is open during the day and pre- schoolers are welcome to use the facilities for a further charge (Adults £7.50 accompanying children aged 4 and under free). Unlike the 17th November event the ice rink will not be open exclusively to pre-schoolers on this day.
