Ask him if he spent Saturday night’s hiding behind the couch because of the Daleks? Does he remember K9 (the trusty metal robot dog) or Doctors Tom Baker changing into Peter Davison? Chances are that he’ll enjoy a trip to the Doctor Who exhibition with props, costumes and creatures from the hit BBC One television series’, old and currently on screen.
The exhibition has been described by visitors and fans as the best Doctor Who exhibition to date and includes the Cybermen, Sontaran, the Weeping Angels, Davros and of course the Daleks within the largest interactive installation ever staged... The latest additions, the Silurians (Homo Reptilia) were added immediately after being screened in Episode 8 The Hungry Earth – Cold Blood and there are promises of more additions being rushed to Newcastle straight from filming as the schedule allows.
As well as discovering fascinating insights into how this enduring programme is made, the exhibition also features a unique look at the BBC Art Department which created so many memorable moments from the series and provides a behind-the-scenes peek at the way some of the iconic monsters are created.
Visitors can enjoy a lot more activities and exhibitions during their trip to Life, including a journey to the stars in the Life Planetarium – the largest planetarium in the North, a life science show in the Life Theatre, the thrills and spills of the Motion Ride and the Human Life exhibition which explores our Our Origins, Our World and Our Future.
