Important Stuff

• In adverse weather conditions, the rink may have to close.  If in doubt, call 0191 243 8210 during office hours, or the Science Centre reception outside these hours on 0191 243 8268

• Price includes skate hire (you can bring your own but there's no reduction in the price)

• Children under 12 must be supervised by an adult (adults can stay on the viewing platform if they prefer.)

• Children aged 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult on the ice

• Skates must be worn - the smallest boot size available is children's 8 (largest is adult size 14)

• You can only book in advance if there are 10 or more in your party.  Call Niamh (during office hours) on 0191 243 8223

• At busy times there may be queuing; quieter times tend to be in the morning and late afternoon.

• If skating with small children, we advise that you avoid the peak times of Saturday and Sunday afternoons

• We cannot guarantee customers will be able to skate but it is rare that anyone is turned away if too busy

• The viewing platform is for parents and guardians supervising their children only

• All skaters get approximately one hour on the rink

• Once a customer leaves the rink and hands skates back they must purchase another ticket to skate again
