When purchasing admission tickets please follow the guidelines with regards to age suitability and ID cards.
Tickets each have a unique barcode on them which will be scanned on entry. If the barcode on your ticket has already been scanned the barcode scanner will alert our staff and you will not be admitted.
Tickets are valid for the time and date specified only, are non-transferable are non-refundable, and cannot be used in conjunction with any other promotional discount or special offer.
Late arrivals may not be admitted and sadly refunds cannot be given. The Centre for Life reserves the right to cancel events and refunds will be given in this instance. Details of the programme may change.
Ice skating tickets are currently not available to buy online. You can buy a Science Centre ticket online and upgrade to a skating and Science Centre ticket on arrival - just ask at reception.
Events may be photographed and images used by Life for marketing and PR purposes. If you do not wish to be photographed, please speak to a member of staff upon arrival. The Centre for Life and any other partners cannot accept any responsibility for photography or filming taken on phones or cameras by other individuals attending the event.
The Centre for Life reserves the right to refuse admission or to eject customers in reasonable circumstances (for example taking health and safety, environmental and security concerns into account).
Life is located next to Newcastle Central Station, and parking is available in nearby Times Square Car Park (open 24 hours a day). Car parking can be booked online for a flat rate of £3. Full details about hourly parking rates can be found on our website. If you buy car parking online, show your car parking ticket to the Life Science Centre reception staff on arrival. They will validate your ticket and tell you what to do next. Times Square Car Park is situated just a few minutes away from the Science Centre. Sat Nav reference: NE4 7AD (takes you to Times Square Car Park).
Manned by CCTV with personal assistance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, it's one of the safest car parks in Newcastle. Vehicle height restrictions: 7ft or 2.1m in height. Limited spaces for taller vehicles outside the main multi-storey car park are also available.
Science Centre tickets include all activities within the Centre including exhibitions, 4D Motion Ride, planetarium, Science Theatre and Young Explorers’ Zone. * For safety reasons, visitors need to be at least 4 feet/1.2 metres in height to use the 4D Motion Ride. Over 7s may not be permitted in the Young Explorers’ Zone. Separate prices apply for skating (November to February), pre-school days, Lates@Life, lectures and other events and activities.

Adult tickets are available to those aged 18 - 59.
Concessionary tickets are available for:
- Those who are aged 60 and over.
- Those who are aged 18 and over and are in full-time education with valid student ID to be shown on arrival.
- Those who are unemployed (an adult who holds a valid ES40 or UB40).
Carers for disabled visitors are admitted free (limited to one per disabled person). Standard ticket categories apply to disabled visitors. To take advantage of this, please make yourself known to our reception staff and they will be more than happy to help. A child is aged 2 to 17 years inclusive. Children aged 12 years or younger must be accompanied by an adult when visiting Life. Children under 2 years old go free.
A family ticket is for four people: 2 adults and 2 children or 1 adult and 3 children.
Dogs are not permitted on site except for guide dogs.

You may elect to make a Gift Aid donation when purchasing an online ticket. As we’re a charity, Science Centre tickets include a voluntary 10% donation which allows us to claim an extra 25p in every pound from the Government, providing the donor is a UK tax payer. It’s called a Gift Aid visit and it makes a huge difference to charities like us. To enable us to reclaim your Gift Aid, you must be paying an amount of income or capital gains tax at least equal to or greater than the amount of this donation. Our registered charity number is 1059607. If you opt out of the donation, admission charges to the Science Centre are: family £26.50, adult £9.50, child £6.50, concession £7.95 (valid until 3 November 2013 inclusive).
Booking, refunds and cancellations
Once your booking has been processed you will receive an email confirmation to the email address you specified. It is your responsibility to check, prior to purchase, that the information you have supplied to us in respect of your online ticket requirements is accurate. We are only responsible for issuing online tickets in accordance with the information you provide. Once purchased, the date for which your ticket has been purchased cannot be changed. Payments for tickets are non-refundable, save where an event is cancelled by Life. The Centre for Life reserves the right to cancel events and refunds will be given in this instance. Tickets are only valid for the date stated upon them.
Save in respect of liability which cannot be limited by law, our liability to you pursuant to these booking conditions is limited to the face value of the ticket purchased.
These booking terms and conditions are governed by English law and subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
We are only responsible for issuing online tickets in accordance with the information you provide. It is your responsibility to check your tickets as soon as they arrive with you as mistakes cannot always be rectified.
You have a choice of delivery options.
- Email. We will send your tickets via email and you can print off at home (no charge).
- Post. We will send your tickets by Royal Mail second class (additional cost £2.00 per transaction).

On arrival at Life, the following will be required:
- Appropriate proof of entitlement to any discounted ticket rate claimed (such as NUS card, valid Annual Pass card etc) for each person to be admitted under that discount. You may be refused entry or asked to pay the full admission price if suitable proof is not provided.
- The name and booking reference number (provided at the time of purchase).
- The payment card used to purchase the online tickets on this website (Life reserves the right to refuse admission if the correct booking reference and/or payment card is not produced).
- Suitable proof of age (ID) for adult only events.
No ticket may be resold without the prior written consent of Life. If any person attempts to enter Life with a ticket that has been resold without Life’s written consent, Life may refuse entry and no compensation is payable to that person by Life.
Annual Pass holders
Annual Pass holders get free entry to the Science Centre and to pre-school days and do not need to book tickets. Annual Pass holders are eligible for selected discounts at other events – see our website or call (0191) 243 8223 for details. These can be booked online but you must bring your valid pass with you to the event and your booking confirmation. Failure to do so could result in you being refused admission, or charged the full admission price. Annual Pass holders are entitled to 10% off parking in Times Square Car Park (includes online bookings). Full details on car parking prices are available on our website.
