The world’s most prestigious showcase of wildlife photography comes to Life Science Centre, Newcastle.

The winning entries from the 2013 competition are on display from Saturday 30 November 2013 until Sunday 2 March 2014.

You can preview the commended images from the 2013 competition online, or in BBC Wildlife Magazine's September issue. Be amazed by our planet's extraordinary diversity, captured by photographers around the world.

Now in its 49th year, the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, owned by the Natural History Museum and BBC Worldwide, is open to professional and amateur photographers of all ages. The competition and exhibition aim to showcase outstanding creativity and photographic skills, inspiring wonder at the natural world, and highlighting the need for wildlife conservation in audiences of all ages.
