A rare chance to see original paintings by the artist and author James Gurney from his Dinotopia books, featuring a lost island where humans and dinosaurs live together in peace.

The exhibition consists of approximately 55 works, including Arthur Denison's Antique Map, "Song in the Garden," and "Chandara."

Dinotopia: Behind the Scenes
Saturday 11 July, 11am and 3pm
This talk examines the making of Dinotopia from its origins in 1988 to the most recent book, Dinotopia: Journey to Chandara, released in 2007. It explores the techniques and adventures that have gone into the creation of Dinotopia. The presentation covers research, thumbnail sketches, reference maquettes, perspective, dinosaur reconstruction, step-by-step sequences, plain air painting, plus a little about worldbuilding and working as an author/illustrator.
FREE with entrance to the Science Centre. Places allocated on a first-come-first-served bases. Limited places available. Duration: 40 minutes.
