What's On?
May 12, 2008 : The Dinosaur Mummy
This palaeo-doc went out on National Geographic last year but it's worth flagging up the terrestrial broadcast. It tells the kind of story fossil hunters dream about - an entire hadrosaur preserved in such a way that its skin, tendons and soft tissue have kept their structure. It's what fossil-hunters call a "mummy" and the lead scientist can hardly contain his glee as he gloats that "Our dinosaur mummy makes many other dinosaurs look like roadkill!" The CGI reconstructions of North Dakota 67 million years ago get repetitive, but the images of perfectly preserved dino-bits are extraordinary.
