Event details

Our latest blockbuster exhibition Robots - then and now, developed by the Science Museum in London, is launching on the first day of the May half-term holidays.

In the planetarium and 4D Motion Ride*, robots will also rule. Enjoy our new planetarium show for under 7s Space Robots, which explains how robotic explorers are advancing our knowledge of the Solar System and beyond. And if you haven't met Rusty yet, then take a seat for a 4D journey* with the extra-terrestrial robot, in which you will fly across our planet's surface and then continue your adventure in space.

The Making Space will be open every day for crafting robots using recycled materials, including bottles, cartons and cardboard. We've got even more making activities on offer during the holidays, with cubelets in the Robots Activity Space. Cubelets are robotic blocks that do different jobs, like sensing light or spinning around. Choose which blocks to put together and build a robot that can sense what’s happening around it and react.

In the Science Theatre, check out The Secret World of Gases Show. In this live theatre show, our (human) Science Explainers use a variety of demonstrations to reveal interesting facts about these hidden substances. For example, what happens when you dunk a balloon into a bucket of liquid nitrogen?

Everything inside the Science Centre is included in the admission price!

*You must be at least 1.2 metres in height to use the 4D Motion Ride.

The Secret World of Gases programme is led by the UK Association for Science and Discovery Centres and funded by The Royal Society of Chemistry and BOC, the UK's biggest industrial and medical gases company.
