An update from our Chief Executive
The COVID-19 outbreak is escalating, so on Monday morning, we made the decision to close. The health and wellbeing of our staff and visitors is paramount – so the science centre, school workshops, corporate meetings and events, cafes and shop are all closed until further notice. The team continues to work remotely to handle booking changes and answer any questions you may have. Email email@example.com and we will get back to you. If you are planning a corporate event for later in the year or into 2021 – or organising a wedding – please get in touch. Like many charities, we rely on the revenue raised by our commercial activities to fund our activities.
If, like most of us, you are feeling overwhelmed by the sheer volume of information about COVID-19 – some of it wildly inaccurate, take a minute to watch this short animation which shares some facts in an accessible way. Thanks to our friends at the New York Hall of Science who created and shared these graphics with science centres around the world.
Life exists to help everyone explore and enjoy science. Science impacts all of us, every day. It’s science that will help us find a vaccine for this cruel disease and its science that will help us stay connected virtually in the months ahead.
These are extraordinary times. Community and friendship have never been more important. Over the past week, we have been heartened by the number of well wishes and messages of support. The overriding sentiment: How can I help? That’s easy. Stay safe. And when we reopen, come and explore your science centre. You are guaranteed an amazing (and fun) experience that will help you make sense of our changing world – and we promise you a very warm welcome.
In the meantime, stay connected via our website and social media channels – or sign up to our enews at life.org.uk/subscribe
I hope to see you at Life very soon.
