Geordie favourite Denise Welch launches Life’s outdoor ice rink

Life Science Centre’s outdoor ice rink was launched in style today (10 November), with Newcastle’s own Denise Welch taking to the rink for the inaugural spin around the ice.
The actress and TV personality - who is no stranger to a pair of skates, having taken part in reality show Dancing on Ice in the past - delighted crowds in Newcastle this morning, as she took to Life’s outdoor ice rink to officially launch the city centre attraction.
Denise will soon be appearing as Mother Nature in Times Square Pantomime’s production of Jack and the Beanstalk, and appeared on the ice in full pantomime costume and her very own ice skates, alongside some of her cast mates from the production.
Denise said: “I’m so happy to be back in  the North East and it’s great  to have the chance to get my skates on again and launch Life’s outdoor ice rink! It’s such a gem to have in the city centre, and since I’ll be working just across Times Square in the Pantodrome, hopefully I’ll get the chance to have another go before the season is up.”
Skating at Life will be open to the public  from 10.00am  on Saturday 11 November 2017, and will be open every day except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, until 18 February 2018.
On selected Friday nights (17 November – 8 December), local up-and-coming  DJs from Newcastle College will  provide the music from 7pm – 9pm for Friday Night Skate, an event which promises to bring the party to the rink!
Skating at Life is supported by Metro Radio.
