Swap your raincoat for a lab coat at Life Science Centre this Easter

Life Science Centre in Newcastle-upon-Tyne is a cracking place for a family day out during the Easter holidays, whatever the weather throws at us next! And since everything is included in your Science Centre ticket, there’s no need to scramble for loose change during your visit.

The Science Centre will be unwrapping its popular chocolate workshops again this year. Running throughout the school holidays*, the Science Explainers at Life will explain why we love chocolate so much – and yes, there’ll be a chance to taste some, too!

Julia Hankin, Marketing and Communications Director at Life, said: “Our chocolate workshops are always a hit and we’re confident that with all the other interactive zones and activities on offer, you can make day of it – come rain or shine.”

Other highlights include shows in the North’s biggest planetarium and Rusty, the extra-terrestrial robot, who will burst onto the screen in an exciting new 4D Motion Ride** experience (available from 1 April). While over in the Making Space, kids can get stuck in (literally!) with a selection of activities that include creating pop-up Easter cards (30 March – 2 April only) and dinosaur-themed crafts.

In the Science Theatre, the Science Explainers at Life will continue to wow audiences with incredible demos in the latest show The Secret World of Gases. This is not an inflated claim: see what happens when you dunk a balloon into a bucket of liquid nitrogen, learn how oxygen is made on planes and discover how hydrogen might be the key to a greener future.

Meanwhile, the animatronic dinosaurs are getting ready to leave the Toon; don’t forget to pop by and say “gan canny, pet” before the Dino Jaws exhibition comes to an end on 15 April.

* Sign up near reception on arrival for the chocolate workshops. Available on a first-come, first-served basis.

**For safety reasons you have to be at least 1.2 metres in height to use the 4D Motion Ride.
