Life Science Centre will not be running its outdoor ice rink this year due to ongoing uncertainty caused by the pandemic.
The team explored every option to bring the ice rink to Times Square, but with increasingly tight restrictions around COVID-19, ongoing uncertainty and the threat of a national lockdown before Christmas, opening the rink is just too risky.
Linda Conlon, Chief Executive of Life, says: “It’s with a heavy heart that we’ve reached this decision. The rink is now an annual, much loved tradition and a key part of the festive calendar. This will be the first time in nearly 20 years that we haven’t run it.
"I understand that many will be disappointed, but we feel this is the responsible decision to take. Fingers crossed it will be back next year."
Life Science Centre remains open.
