Head to Life Science Centre for some safe, Halloween-themed fun for all the family during the school holidays!

As kids can't go trick-or-treating in the usual way this year, we've created a safe and spooktakular experience that will keep them entertained. And, of course, social distancing, one-way routes, increased cleaning – all sorted!

We all know that fancy dress is the best bit of Halloween, so we encourage all visitors to wear their best scary costumes. Take a selfie in your fancy dress during your visit and post it on Instagram using #LifeSpookyScience for a chance to win a free visit during the school Christmas holidays! The visitor who gets the most likes on their post by midday on 5 November 2020 will be our winner*.

Your ticket includes:

  • Enjoy the new family-friendly live show Spooky Science. We’ve created a campfire storytelling vibe as we explore things that go bump in the night. Did something just flutter behind you? What is that eerie light? Do you hear what I hear? Come and learn why it's often your own imagination that spooks you the most.

  • Take the leg of a robot, the body of a monster and mash them together to build your own scary cardboard creature. Find out how to breathe life into your beast by turning it into a shadow puppet or a GIF that you can share with your friends.

  • Keep your eyeballs peeled around the science centre to spot the skeletons on the Skeleton Trail. These funny bones might have names that sound a bit familiar if you know some famous scientists... (Please bring a pen or pencil from home.)
  • Have an out-of-this-world experience in the immersive Space Zone. Younger visitors can enjoy the show Naughty Monsters Explore the Planets in the planetarium.

  • Marvel at the impressive LEGO® brick models in Brick Dinos – an exhibition with real bite!

  • Explore brain tricks and illusion treats in the Brain Zone.

Plus:

  • Join the team for some pop-up science as we explore the ingredients in hand sanitiser, see how sneezes spread diseases and why soapy water is the enemy of the virus. Plus, discover what’s happening here in the North East to help fight the pandemic and delve into what we can all do to make a difference.

Please note: some areas of the science centre remain closed for now, including the Young Explorers' Zone.
