Skating safety information

Information to make your ice rink visit enjoyable and fuss-free

Your visit

  • Children aged 9 years and under must be accompanied by an adult on the ice. Children aged 10 - 12 years must be supervised by an adult, either on the ice rink or from the viewing platform.
  • Space on the viewing platform is limited and reserved for those supervising their children.
  • If you leave the rink and hand in your skates, you have to buy another ticket to skate again.
  • Management reserve the right to refuse entry - although, thankfully, this is rare.
  • We provide wrist bands to all customers to help with timings – please have yours visible and hand it in with your skates at the end of the session.
  • Skating sessions last approximately one hour (includes time to fit skates so expect 45-50 minutes on the ice).
  • Times Square Café is usually open to buy Starbucks coffee and delicious hot and cold food.

Clothing, Valuables & Skate Hire

  • Skate hire is included in your ticket. If you have your own skates you’re welcome to use them, but we can’t give discounts.
  • Lockers are available for a small charge to store valuables, but ultimately all items (including shoes) are left at your own risk.
  • Please wear suitable clothing - waterproofs, hats and gloves are recommended. Some people like to bring a change of clothing - particularly spare socks.
  • Gloves and socks can be bought from the Life shop if you’re caught short.

For Your Safety

  • Please skate anticlockwise.
  • Please do not skate backwards.
  • If anyone has an accident, please tell an ice marshall.
  • If anyone endangers themselves or others, the Duty Manager will ask them to leave.
  • We do everything we can to ensure you have a safe and happy experience, but skaters participate at their own risk.
  • Please don’t throw ice/snow balls.
  • Cigarettes, alcohol, food and drink are not allowed on the ice.
  • Only skaters are allowed on the ice.
  • Please don’t join hands to create chains while skating - this can result in accidents.
  • Our ice marshals are a friendly bunch and are here to make your visit safe and enjoyable - please listen to anything they tell you, and feel free to ask them for advice.

Thank you.
