March at Life Science Centre is packed with exciting experiences and events for all ages, kicking off with a range of special events to celebrate British Science Week, from Friday 7 March!

Get ready for an unforgettable family day out this British Science Week and enjoy 25% off tickets!

The star of the show is Luma, which makes its North East debut next week. From Friday 7 – Saturday 15 March, this nine-metre-long interactive, robotic snail will be lighting up Newcastle with its gentle, otherworldly glow. Included in your science centre ticket, Luma is inspired by nature and designed to spark curiosity in visitors of all ages.

Alongside Luma, families can enjoy a jam-packed programme of science fun, with a live show full of exciting experiments, hands-on making activities, and a chance to explore the cosmos in the Planetarium. There’s plenty to enjoy, so you can stay as long as you like!

Meet the Robots

For one day only on Saturday 8 March, step into the exciting world of robotics.

Come and chat with scientists and engineers from Sunderland University and get hands-on with amazing tech. Play with robot dogs, watch sumo bots battle, and even challenge a robotic arm to a game of noughts and crosses. Fun for the whole family!

March Relaxed Sunday Session

On Sunday 9 March, between 10:00am – 12:00pm, enjoy dedicated quiet time for anyone who benefits from a calmer environment, including autistic people and those with other sensory needs. Includes relaxed performances in the theatre and Planetarium, plus the chance to see Luma.

March Home Education Day

On Monday 10 March, between 2:00pm – 5:00pm, home educating families have a fantastic opportunity to take part in curriculum-linked workshops, with a special focus on robotics. Includes the chance to see Luma.

Science Speakeasy: Your Life in Robot Hands

Would you trust a robot with your care? 

Adults can join us on Thursday 13 March for a Science Speakeasy tackling the rise of “carebots” in social care. Could robots help ease the crisis, or is human touch irreplaceable? Your ticket includes the chance to see Luma before the debate.
