Mother and son in Just Look Up Planetarium Show at Life Science Centre.

The Sky Tonight – Orion is a new presenter-led show that guides you through the sky exactly as it appears that evening.

Free from light pollution and cloud cover, you’ll learn how to find North and identify Orion, Taurus and the Pleiades – a stunning star cluster said to resemble a group of sisters.

The new show also looks at the mythological stories and life lessons surrounding these constellations, given to them by the Māori people.

Soar past the stars in a dramatic solar system flight, where you can visit the Sun and three planets chosen by the audience.

Learn how the force of gravity will cause the death of the supergiant star that forms Orion’s shoulder and lead to the birth of new stars in the Orion Nebula.

Expect a relaxed, immersive experience with super comfy seats and full wheelchair access.

Shows are on at various times throughout the day, and times are available on arrival. During busy times, we request that you visit the Planetarium once – this is to allow other visitors to enjoy the experience too.
