A mam and daughter enjoyed an out of this world trip down memory lane at Life Science Centre’s Queen Heaven dome show.
Mam Rosie Ireland was first introduced to Queen’s music at the age of five, when her mam Rose, a huge fan, encouraged her to watch Freddie and the legendary band perform at Live Aid in 1985.
Queen’s music went on to become a soundtrack to family life – from singing along to their hits in the car to dancing around the sitting room to their tunes – and that musical legacy passed on to Rosie’s daughter Ruby.
At the weekend, they were both delighted to visit the science centre’s Queen Heaven show to relive a lifetime of memories.
The 360° full dome show celebrates the best of Queen’s music, combining classic music videos, immersive solar system visuals and archive footage.
Rosie, 45, from Birtley said: “My mam was a huge Queen fan and that has been passed on through the generations, firstly to me and then my daughter, which demonstrates the timeless magic of their music.
“I have so many memories of watching videos of Queen with my mam and singing along to their music and although she died five years ago, the love of their music lives on in my daughter Ruby – she’s now got all my mam’s vinyl records and plays them all the time.
“It was such a wonderful night, the show was awesome and brought back so many lovely memories of my mam.”
Set in Life’s state-of-the-art planetarium, Queen Heaven has been enjoyed by audiences around the world from Germany to Japan. Approved by Queen and inspired by their music, the show was produced in 2001 so some of the visuals are a bit of a retro throwback, but the music is timeless!
