Families can get up close to a range of magnificent minibeasts, from scorpions to tarantulas, at Newcastle’s Life Science Centre.

Special guests Zoolab are coming to Life during May half term offering visitors the chance to take a closer look at tiny creatures and discover how crawlies don’t have to be creepy!

The Zoolab rangers and minibeasts will be in the science centre between Monday 27 May and Friday 31 May and are part of a package of exciting activities for families to explore during the half-term holiday.

Visitors can also unleash their creativity and make and take home their own cardboard minibeast and there’s the chance to sit back and relax in the region’s largest Planetarium and take a 360-degree breathtaking tour of the night skies, including a close-up of the constellation Virgo.

In addition, visitors can enjoy hands-on exhibits, live science shows and experience being a real scientist for the day in the Experiment Zone (age restrictions apply). For younger visitors, there’s the revamped Play Zone which includes an outdoor marketplace and a coastal mural area, complete with a boat and a lighthouse.

Life has been independently rated best in England for visitor experience.

Life, which has been independently rated best in England for visitor experience, has also recently been voted by the public as being the favourite regional rainy day indoor attraction in a ChronicleLive poll.
