Families looking for unforgettable half-term fun can enjoy fireballs, big explosive bangs, an immersive journey to the stars and explore AI and how the brain can be fooled, at Newcastle’s Life Science Centre.
Special guests Wonderstruck will deliver their exciting Rocket Show (Saturday 14 to Sunday 22 February only), where visitors can discover the science behind rockets and rocket-related inventions with plenty of big bangs.
The high energy show combines spectacle with science, giving visitors a front-row seat to explosive learning. *

The show is part of Life’s busy half-term programme, which also includes the live science show ‘Find the Fake’, which explores the impact of AI in everyday life, looking into how the brain can be fooled and how to spot fakes in the real world. Expect illusions, mind challenges, and plenty of surprises while you discover that seeing isn’t always believing!
Budding stargazers can visit the Planetarium for a new 360° experience. The Sky Tonight – Orion is a presenter-led domeshow that guides visitors through the night sky, exactly how it would appear that evening, without light pollution or clouds obscuring the view.

Families can also explore the origins of life on Earth through to the search for extra-terrestrial life in the 360° immersive show Life: The Greatest Story, while younger visitors can enjoy the Planetarium show Bump in the Night, a mesmerising story about a child’s view of the strange shadows and noises around them.
There’s also the chance to be creative in the Making Studios, where families can make and take home their own cardboard selfies, while in Experiment Zone (for ages 7+), you can find the best material for an astronaut’s helmet visor using ultraviolet light.
All of this, and more, including Life’s latest exhibition Lightbox, featuring Europe’s largest tornado tower, and Play Zone for under 7s, is included in a science centre entry ticket.
