Explore planet Earth and the solar system in Life’s immersive Planetarium.

Discover the movement of the Earth, its Moon and the planets in our solar system to find out how we get days and years.

In this live, presenter-led planetarium experience, students visit different continents, go stargazing and even launch a mission to the Moon, making decisions based on what they discover.

Our presenters take the class on a tour of the solar system where they see how the JWST (James Webb Space Telescope) can help us make new discoveries about our universe.

By the end of the workshops students will have discovered:

How Earth’s tilt leads to the seasons

How to consider our Sun as a star, other stars in our galaxy and other galaxies

The light year as a unit of astronomical distance

How the Earth’s rotation leads to day and night and the apparent movement of the Sun across the sky

The movement of the Moon relative to the Earth and why the Moon appears to change shape

How scientists can use the JSWT to find out more about our solar system and the universe

School trip prices

We allow a ratio of 1 adult to every 5 children for most groups. Additional adults over this ratio will be charged. In the case of SEN groups, we may offer further free adult support on request – please contact us to discuss your requirements.

During winter months (from 9 November – 18 December), school science centre visits are combined with a skate on Life’s outdoor ice rink for the cost of £12 per child. See more about seasonal pricing.
