Work Experience Opportunities

We offer work experience placements for students aged 14-18. This is a great opportunity see what happens behind the scenes and get a taste of what it’s like to work at our unique science centre.

Students will have the opportunity to work across multiple departments such as public engagement, building services and finance. This is to get a broad understanding of how our business operates and how teams work together. Alternatively, if students have a fixed career goal, they can request to work in a specific department which aligns to this goal.

Key information about our work placements

  • Work placements can last from a couple of days up to a full week, with multiple start dates available.
  • Each placement will be unique to the student and their career interests. Dependent on availability, students will have the opportunity to gain experience in a wide range of departments, including: finance, marketing, science engagement, education, customer services, technical operations, building services, health and safety and IT.
  • Placement activities will vary dependent on the time of year, however students can expect to shadow teams and complete at least one meaningful task.
  • Work placements include an induction covering key information such as health and safety.
  • Life will subsidise travel costs for students up to £5.00 per day.
  • Places are limited and will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
