Get inspired at our new Careers' Days

Join us for Careers’ Days in our award-winning science centre, and meet STEM professionals from around the North East.

Life’s Schools’ Team are welcoming students from Year 10 and Year 12 into the science centre over 2 bespoke days.

Here they can experience real labs, meet inspiring role models and test their skills in a related STEM activity.

Year 10 session: Friday 6 November 2026

Year 12 session: Friday 5 February 2027

What's on?

From 9.30am until 2.30pm, students will:  

  • Engage in 4 sessions run by STEM professionals, learn about their career paths and current roles, then get hands-on testing their skills in a related STEM activity. 
  • Explore the science centre and interact with hands-on STEM exhibits.  
  • Engage in meaningful encounters with STEM professionals through Q and As and informal conversations during STEM activities. 
  • Experience the North’s largest planetarium and go behind the scenes to discover how our team creates award-winning shows.  

Visiting STEM professional’s cover a breadth of careers available here in the North East, highlighting a range of STEM opportunities in academia and industry. 

What's included?

As well as the chance to start a conversation with industry professionals from across the region, students will get: 

 

  • A planetarium session with Life’s Animator, Tommy Howell, where he will explain the process of creating a planetarium show.  
  • Four sessions led by STEM professionals from both an academic and industry background. 
  • Take-home booklet.
