The roaring success of Life Science Centre’s The Great Dinosaur Escape means visitors now have until after Christmas to come face-to-face with the prehistoric giants.
The North’s biggest collection of moving dinosaurs has been attracting record breaking visitor numbers since opening in March and was due to come to a close this month.
But they have proved such a hit with visitors that the dinosaurs are now sticking around until 3 January 2027, giving more families the chance to make a prehistoric visit part of their Christmas and New Year plans.
The Great Dinosaur Escape features more than 20 full-size animatronic, including a spectacular 9-metre-long moving T. rex and a purpose-built Dino Den, roughly the size of one and a half tennis courts.
Visitors can get up close to the dinosaurs and also discover more about the creatures that once ruled the planet.
And for the rest of this month (September), anyone on Universal Credit can visit Life for £5.
The Great Dinosaur Escape is included with a general admission ticket and is part of a full day out. Visitors can also enjoy live science shows, hands-on exhibits and other activities and immersive 360° shows in the Planetarium.
As part of Life’s autumn programme, there is a host of thrilling treats on offer too from slime making workshops (31 October only) and a live Fossils Show, which looks at what dinosaurs might have been afraid of, to experiments with UV lights (for ages 7+) and a Halloween version of the animated show Bump in the Night, written and produced by Life’s award-winning in-house team.
