To celebrate World Space Week, we’re putting the spotlight on satellites.

There are thousands of satellites orbiting the Earth helping with everything from weather predictions to GPS navigation.

During this special one-day event, we will be lifting the lid on how North East scientists and engineers are building and engineering satellites, launching them into space, using them to monitor our planet and using space telescopes to explore the wider universe.

Scientists from the universities of Newcastle, Northumbria and Durham and some of the team from space companies Skyrora and Ambasat, will be on hand to share their knowledge and passion and answer questions.

All included in your science centre ticket. This event will run in addition to the usual exhibits and activities.

Meet the expert series

At Life, we regularly invite scientists and STEM professionals from universities and other organisations to meet and talk with visitors

It’s a chance for our visitors to ask questions, learn about what different scientists do on a day-to-day basis, how they got into their chosen field, and maybe even help them with their research.

For scientists and STEM professionals, it’s a chance to engage the public with their work, spread knowledge and awareness and perhaps gather some data.

If you’re a scientist or STEM professional, and interested in getting involved, ask a member of the Life team for details when you’re here, or email info@life.org.uk
