Essential info
Please read!

Please note that some areas will be closed from 5 September – 25 October (inclusive) as we get ready for the launch of the new Space Zone (opens 26 October). Prices have been reduced to reflect this.

The 4D Motion Ride has been a firm favourite for visitors of all ages since Life Science Centre opened nearly 20 years ago. However, as the science centre continues to grow and evolve, it is time to retire this popular attraction to make space for something new – so make sure you visit by 25 October 2019 if you want to enjoy one final thrilling ride! Life would like to hear from visitors what they’d like to see replace the 4D Motion Ride, so please send your ideas to info@life.org.uk. Also, don’t forget to check out the science centre’s newest exhibition Space Zone from 26 October 2019 to explore the wonders of the Universe and discover how space exploration impacts our everyday lives.

Event details

Explore what makes you 'you'. Find out how your brain works and how it controls so many of your body's functions – often without you even realising it.

Play memory games, step into an optical illusion and (attempt to) interact with exhibits that require some mind over matter.

Developed with the national curriculum in mind, the Brain Zone has much to offer psychology students, but it also offers broader science insights, such as how scientists carry out experiments when data is hard to capture.

Don't miss:
  • Sip of conflict – A drinking fountain disguised as a toilet bowl. Your brain knows the water is clean and drinkable, but can you happily have a drink and not think 'yuck'?
  • Disappearing hand – You will believe that your hand has disappeared even though your brain tells you it can't be possible.
  • Do not touch – Dare you risk pressing the red button, and how will you react if you do?
  • A REAL brain – Take a close-up look at the human brain – the container of all our hopes, dreams and memories.
