Enjoy thrilling live shows, exciting experiments, interactive exhibits and hands-on making activities at Life Science Centre

Plus! Enjoy thrilling, interactive exhibits in Wow Zone, including the 6-metre-tall ‘Big Machine’! Other highlights include Space Zone, complete with a replica of part of the International Space Station and Play Zone for under-7s.

May highlights

  • Create and take home your own cardboard minibeast! How many heads, legs and eyes will yours have?
  • Get face to face with minibeasts – including tarantulas and snakes! – and discover that crawlies don’t have to be creepy, with special guests ZooLab (27-31 May only)
  • Explore the skies without leaving your seat with our new planetarium show Constellation Close-up: Virgo.
  • Be a scientist in Experiment Zone – complete with goggles and lab coats. Combine chemicals that will fizz, heat, cool and solidify.

 

  • Challenge your friends to a pulley chair race and see what sound looks like with our amazing hands-on exhibits.
  • Feel what it’s like to be an astronaut in Space Zone – complete with a mock-up of the International Space Station.
  • Nurture your young explorers in our new look Play Zone, a fascinating world where little ones can build, create, and learn.
  • Want to make your visit extra special? See a rainbow indoors, get to know Planet Earth and listen to some noisy toys with our Discovery Backpacks. (Limited availability. £10 refundable deposit required on entry).

Group visits

Life is a great place for groups of all sizes to spend a day and take part in some fun science activities! If you’re bringing 20 people or more, it’s best to book in advance.
